The Bray Family

Testimonial to Kevin Davies from the Bray Family. The close family ties started in the early eighties when a guy called Kevin asked Eric and his mate John, if he could join them on a local fishing trip. Since that day and over the years since, Kevin and Lesley became very close friends with our families sharing all Births, Deaths, Marriages, Christenings and Holidays together over some 40 years. Together we have had some great fun times, brought up our families, got serious, got drunk, laughed and cried but most of all, have supported each other through life’s journey. So, it is like an arrow through our hearts that Kevin has passed so suddenly after his hard fight over the past year or so. He was Eric’s best mate, with them being inseparable in fishing and shooting trips, putting the world to right every Friday night in the pub, riding together on motorbike excursions, attending rugby internationals (even taking the wives on some occasions!), going on hiking expeditions out in the wilds and so much more – the memories are so precious. As a person Kevin was a true and firm friend to us all. He was very knowledgeable in many areas earning the “Ask Kevin” reputation when there was any unanswerable question. He would come a running whenever asked and rarely needed any reciprocation when sorting his own business. He was always kind and gentle with our kids as they grew up, he would take time out to teach them the “simple things” in life, earning him the title “Uncle Kevin” which remains today and forever, from our girls. On the more humorous side, he was regularly late for our very, very early morning fishing trips resulting in a new Time Zone being created, this being DMT – Davies Mean Time – which replaced our own GMT!! There are also no photos of Kevin holding any large Carp as he could never catch any! That will put the cat amongst the pigeons with him up there looking down with that wry grin which was his “I’ll get you back for that” trademark. Rest in peace our treasured friend – we will never forget you.
